According to Wikipedia a QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is a specific matrix code (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR code readers and camera telephones.  The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background.  The information encoded may be text, a URL, or other data.  Quick Response Codes are an easy way for clients to contact you, get to a website, connect with you through social media, obtain directions to a facility, or learn more about products.  Increase customer awareness, traffic to websites, and sales by implementing QR Codes into your marketing campaign today.

Here are 5 ways to use QR Codes to Improve Your Customers Experience:

1) Business Cards.

QR codes can be generated in lieu of your contact information on business cards or other collateral.  This allows clients or potential prospects to scan a code that automatically adds your contact information into their smart phone with one scan.  In addition, you can create QR codes for any URL, think landing pages and websites.  In other words, rather than or in addition to a website address, QR codes can be generated and customers who scan them are taken directly to the company’s website or landing page without having to type in the whole URL address.  If you use a website URL make sure that the customer or potential prospect is being directed to a mobile friendly website that will link her to the standard website.

2) Print Advertising.

Use QR codes for everything you print.  For example, postcards, rack cards, sell sheets, booklets, manuals, cards, invitations, brochures, flyers, banners, posters, signs, and window clings as well as many other applications.  QR codes may also be generated for directions to locations, scavenger hunts, and specific shopping cart items, to build an email subscriber list or to link to a phone number which will make a phone call immediately.

3) Social Media.

At minimum, use QR codes to connect potential prospects and colleagues to get more Facebook “Likes”, Twitter “Followers” and LinkedIn “Connections”.   Again, be sure when using QR codes that when the customer scans the code that they are taken to a mobile friendly page.  If they are not, this could sabotage your marketing campaign.  Have you ever scanned a QR code and been taken to a website, only to get aggravated, and closed the window right away?

4) Events.

QR codes can be used to R.S.V.P to an invitation or any event, on billboards, register for a giveaway, on tradeshow and conference badges.  Also, collect potential prospect or customer information by linking them to a form, but be sure to give an incentive to complete the form.  Also codes can be created to Tweet your event:  “I’m registering to win an ipad at GBS’ booth #308”.

5) Promotions.

Generate special coupons and promotions specific to certain QR codes for sales, discounts and specials.  Anyplace you can put a QR Code you have a paperless coupon.
